During the week of December 25 through January 3, the temperatures in the Metro East dipped to single digits, making it frigid cold for pets left outside. Gateway Pet Guardians volunteers were out in full force, encouraging pet owners to bring their pets inside and if they are unable to, providing doghouses and straw to keep warm. During this emergency response, we visited 60 families, giving out 25 doghouses and nine dog crates for families to keep their dogs warm.
Our efforts made the local news—stations 2, 4, and 5. Below are a few segments that aired throughout the week about our efforts in the Metro East.
