Hi! My name is Janet Alderson and this is my portfolio.
I’m an Instructional Designer, which means I wear many hats: graphic design, video production and editing, multimedia production, curriculum development, content creation, copyediting, and objective alignment, to name a few. I have over 14 years of design and development experience in both the higher education and nonprofit arenas.
I take pride in designing engaging and high-quality learning materials to meet program objectives and student needs. I have experience collaborating with developers with diverse backgrounds and varying technological abilities. I do this utilizing current learning theories, instructional design models, and best practices in online education. I use my background in technical communication and attention to detail to proofread, edit, and review all instructional materials to create a polished learning experience for students. Throughout my career, I have worked in several learning management systems, including Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, and D2L. I take pride in my ability to train faculty and subject matter experts in the use of learning management systems and development software.
I live in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area with my husband and two dogs–Harley and Hank. Both were rescued from animal rescue organizations. I’m the proud aunt of two beautiful nephews and enjoy spending as much time as possible with my family.
